Age Verification for Customers in the United States
As you may know, California and the FDA recently passed new laws that mandate online retailers of electronic cigarettes and accessories verify the ID of every customer. These requirements state we must verify your ID and Age before accepting payment and shipping your products.
This means every consumer that purchases online will have to verify their Age and ID through some third party service. We have chosen a service and method that allows you to verify your account ONE (1) time and you will never need to verify your ID again.
How we verify Your ID & Age
We use a third party service called Integrity by Aristotle, a company used by Fortune 500 Companies and Government agencies to protect employees and verify IDs. When you place an order with us, select information is transmitted to Aristotle and compared against protected databases to validate your age and ID meet the requirements of your state or local municipality.
The following information is submitted to the service for validation:
- Full Name
- Billing Address
- Last Four Digits of Your SSN
Once the information is submitted, a pass or fail validation code is returned to us. Your information is NEVER stored by Integrity, Aristotle, or the validation databases.
What information does Apollo keep?
We only keep non-sensitive information, such as your billing and shipping address, full name, and birthdate. This information is kept to provide you with better service and an easier shopping experience, similar to what you experience at major online retailers.
In addition to the information we mentioned, we do store the validation code returned to us by Integrity, which provides a record that your ID was successfully verified and so we don’t need to ask for your information again.
What if I don’t want to provide this information?
We completely understand. If you feel uncomfortable sharing this information with us, we’d be happy to recommend a local shop where you can purchase our products. You can also verify your ID with us by contacting our customer support team via email, phone, or live chat and providing a photocopy/picture of your ID.
